GMW Mildura Weir
GMW Mildura Weir
Professional Diving Services successfully completed a project for Goulburn Murray Water involving the filling of three large cavities identified on the downstream apron of the Weir in Mildura.
The works were carried out with the assistance of Waterjet Technologies over three days commencing on the 21st of May 2019. Diving operations were conducted using PDS vessel ProDiver 3, as well as a GMW barge and vessel which were used for the grout pump and as an assistant tender vessel.
GMW personnel isolated tressels on the weir to reduce the current where divers were working below. Once diving operations commenced, the diver established the location of the cavities and carried out an inspection before building of the sand bag wall commenced. A total of 240 sand bags were used to build three walls, one for each cavity. Grout filling of the undercut apron began on the second day using 480 bags of grout to fill all three cavities.
